Every piece is cut to your measurements
The sizes below are where we start, not where we finish. Nothing leaves the atelier without being fitted on the person who will wear it.
Measurements are body measurements, not garment measurements. Between two sizes, take the larger — a gown can always be brought in.
Taking your own
Four numbers,
taken properly
Have someone else take them if you can — self-measuring adds two centimetres almost every time. Stand normally, breathe out, and do not pull the tape tight.
- Bust
- Around the fullest part, tape level all the way round and flat against the back. Wear the bra you intend to wear on the day — it changes the number more than people expect.
- Waist
- The narrowest point, usually just above the navel. Bend to one side; the crease that forms is your natural waist. Keep one finger under the tape.
- Hip
- Around the fullest part, generally 20–22 cm below the waist. Stand with your feet together.
- Hollow to hem
- From the dip at the base of your throat, straight down the front of the body to the floor. Take it in the shoes you will wear — heel height changes everything.
Garment care
Looking after
what you own
Cleaning
Dry clean only, and only by a specialist who handles couture. Point them to the beading and embroidery before they start. Never machine wash, never spot clean embellishment at home.
Storage
On a wide padded hanger, inside the cotton cover supplied. Never plastic — it traps moisture and yellows silk over time. Heavily beaded gowns are better stored flat, folded with acid-free tissue between layers.
Pressing
Steam only, held away from the fabric, never an iron directly on silk or tulle. Hanging the gown in a steamy bathroom for twenty minutes resolves most travel creases.
Repairs
Bring it back to us. We keep matching thread and spare beads for every piece we make, and small repairs to our own gowns are free for the first two years.
